Former heavyweight champion Ezzard Charles was a 1-3 favorite to defeat Nino Valdes of Cuba in their scheduled lO-rounc" bout tonight and score the sixth con secutive victory of his "come back campaign." Charles, who hopes to be matched with the winner of the Rocky Marciano-Roland Las tarza heavyweight title bout on Sept. 24, expected to scale about 190 pounds and give away some 21 pounds to his six-foot, three-inch . opponent. Charles will enter the ring with a string of five straight victories including three knockouts. Net profit was $30,490.72, with the difference going for capital improvements, includ ing the first section of concrete baseball bleachers at Howe field.
